Short Term Goals

"The tools and information on this site have helped me reach several of my short term goals!"

are extremely important, short term goals keep us on track and motivated to reach our long term goals. If you do not have any set then you can find yourself quitting and losing your positive attitude because the long term goals you have set for yourself are usually far into the future.

As humans we have to see some kind of advancement otherwise we tend to lose focus and think that we will never reach our goals.

They are goals that you can accomplish in a fairly reasonable time sometimes a couple weeks, months or even a couple of years. If you see yourself achieving these goals, it will keep you motivated to stick to the long term goals.

Think of it as a stepping stone to help you reach the goals you are very passionate about.

What are some goal setting examples of some short term goals you can set for yourself? Well take a look at where you are presently and say to yourself "where would I like to be in 3-5 years. Some other goals can be daily chores or "honey do lists" that you would like to accomplish.

Based on that question you can set goals you actually achieve. These are some short term goals you could write out:

(Remember these are only examples-not necessarily goals for you to adopt.)

1.) I am a vacumming the house

2.) I am doing the laundry

3.) I am cleaning out my garage

4.) I am signing up for the next yoga class

5.) I am taking my dogs to the dog park

6.) I am now stopping at by to get gas today after the ball game

7.) I am taking my car to get an oil change

The best way to set your goals is to find out what you truly want to accomplish and when you do it, it will give you a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Exercise: On a sheet of paper, write "Short-term goals I Want to Accomplish." Start with the goal that most interests you, then create a column for each of these areas:

1. Things I can do right now to achieve them

2. Things I can do next month

3. Things I can do six months from now

In addition to your short term goals your goal setting plan should also have some long term goals. Long term goals are 10-20 years (or even longer) from now. Do not worry about the process on how you are going to get there, just have fun with it and write down what you would like to see yourself accomplishing in that time frame.

These goals, both long and short term, will be used to create a personal development plan. The personal development plan describes steps you will take to reach your goals. Find out what a personal development plan is...
